The Wide Double-
Van Eeghenstraat 125/127 is a familiar address for our office. This part of Van Eeghenstraat is considered the most desirable part of the Concertgebouw neighborhood. We were previously involved with these buildings as consultants when the then-developer merged them into residences . This discovery resulted in high-quality, spacious properties. More space on a single floor creates opportunities for a modern layout and allows more daylight to enter. This is particularly true of this ground floor apartment of almost 400 m², which the developer originally had designed for himself. The current owner recognized its special qualities and convinced the developer to sell the property to him. The house is completely different from the other residences, which retain a traditional layout. The most pleasant floors of both buildings, the garden floor and the bel-etage, have been combined into a single entity. As a result, the garden is twice as wide and feels spacious both at garden level and from the bel-etage. This layout provided space for a functional and contemporary layout that makes optimal use of the generous Floor area. Linse Studio gave the atmosphere and finish a luxurious and timeless character. The south-facing location, with large glass fronts and a terrace overlooking the deep and green inner gardens, adds extra value to the daily experience. It is an honor for us to find a new resident for this special house.

One of the most beautiful and spacious ground floor houses in the Concertgebouw neighborhood offers the luxury of an optimal layout and an oasis of light. Both floors have direct access to both the garden and terrace. The property has been thoroughly and luxuriously renovated to a design by Studio Linsen, with timeless finishes and unparalleled comfort. The house dates from 1901 and was designed by Albert Lubbers. It has recently been completely renovated, adapted to contemporary lifestyles and equipped with all modern conveniences. Van Eeghenstraat largely forms the boundary of landscape architect Zocher's design. He designed the Vondelpark, whose flowing patterns and lines are also recognizable in the facade line of this part of the street. In the straight section, between Jacob Obrechtstraat and Cornelis Schuytstraat, a public garden connects the street with the villas along Vondelpark. The row of facades that includes Number and 127 borders this park and fits in perfectly with the park in terms of urban design. The architecture of the facade reflects the design of the park and is in keeping with the Art Nouveau style that was in vogue at the time.
On the odd-numbered side of the street, with deep south-facing gardens, the buildings are sometimes individually designed and sometimes as a block of several residences. The houses in the row are stately, with generous dimensions, large windows, bay windows, and rich decorative brickwork. Number is the last of six mansions designed by Albert Lubbers in 1900. Number marks the beginning of a block of three buildings. These houses were built as mansions for wealthy families from the canal belt, who longed for more greenery in the spirit of the fin-de-siècle style from France. The buildings were richly decorated with ornaments, fireplaces, and decorative ceilings, and characterized by high ceilings, spacious entrances, and doors. They offered more light and air than the canal houses and were designed for large families with staff, while also providing space to conduct business from home.
In 2008 and 2009, two adjacent buildings became available at the same time. The developer at the time recognized that the aging population required larger residences a single floor with an elevator. Kodde Architects translated this insight into a suitable design. The two lower floors were merged into a double-width ground floor apartment. Together with the extension on the ground floor, a terrace could be created on the bel-etage. The southern location of the garden and terrace provided an opportunity to add generous glass sections. The original details were retained at the front. Behind the façade now lies one of the most exceptional residences Van Eeghenstraat.
